Privacy and cookie policy
What this site collects, what Google AdSense collects, and what you can do about either.
Last updated 27 July 2026
This policy explains what information Acrostic Poem Generator collects, what our advertising and analytics partners collect, and what you can do about it. It is written to be read rather than to be legally impressive. If anything here is unclear, ask.
In this policy, “we”, “us” and “the site” mean acrosticpoemgenerator.com, which is owned and operated by Taurus Alternative Strategies, LLC of Rye Brook, New York, USA. For the purposes of UK and EU data protection law, Taurus Alternative Strategies, LLC is the data controller.
The short version
- There are no accounts, so we hold no name, email address or password unless you send us one.
- The word you type into the generator is sent to our server and passed to the AI provider that writes the poem. It is not saved to any database of ours.
- Your browser keeps a short list of poems already written for a word, so the generator can avoid repeating itself. That list stays on your device and never reaches us.
- Google AdSense serves the ads on this site and uses cookies. That is the main way data about you leaves this page.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google My Ad Center and optout.aboutads.info.
What we collect ourselves
The generator
When you generate a poem, your browser sends our server the word or phrase you typed, the mood you selected, and a short list of previous poems for that word held in your browser. Our server passes a prompt built from these to our AI provider, receives the poem, checks it, and returns it to you.
We do not write the word you typed, the poem, or any identifier linking them to you into a database. Standard server logs may briefly record request metadata (IP address, timestamp, user agent) as part of normal hosting operation.
Rate limiting
To keep the tool available, we count how many poems each visitor generates per day. This is stored as a one-way cryptographic hash of your IP address combined with the date — not the address itself — and the record expires. It cannot be reversed to identify you and is not used for anything else.
Local storage in your browser
The site stores two things on your own device using your browser's local storage:
- A short record of poems already generated for a given word, so the generator can avoid repeating images and openings.
- A flag recording that you dismissed the cookie notice, so it does not reappear on every page.
Neither is transmitted to us. Clearing your browser's site data deletes both.
If you contact us
If you use the contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address and message, and keep them for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and to keep a record of any correction you prompted. The form is processed by our hosting provider, Netlify. We do not add you to any mailing list.
Advertising, analytics and other third parties
Google AdSense
This site displays advertising served by Google. In its own words, Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and elsewhere on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google My Ad Center.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
- Third-party vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site and use their own cookies.
- Google's own explanation of how it uses data from sites that use its services is at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Opting out of personalised advertising does not remove ads. It makes them less relevant to you.
Google Fonts
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers and your IP address is visible to them as part of that request.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Netlify, which processes requests and may log technical data such as IP address and user agent for security and operational purposes.
AI provider
The poems are written by a third-party large language model provider, which receives the prompt containing the word you typed. We do not send them any identifier for you.
Cookies and similar technologies
| Set by | Purpose | Type |
|---|---|---|
| This site | Remembering that you dismissed the cookie notice; the generator's short anti-repetition memory | Local storage, not a cookie. Stays on your device. |
| Google AdSense & partners | Serving and measuring advertising, frequency capping, fraud prevention, and personalisation where permitted | Third-party cookies and similar identifiers |
| Netlify | Security, load balancing and abuse prevention | Operational |
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking third-party cookies will not stop the generator working; it may affect which ads you see.
Visitors in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland
If you are in one of these regions, advertising and analytics storage is switched off by default when the page loads, and stays off until you choose otherwise. Google requires sites that carry its ads to collect that choice through a certified consent management platform, so the consent message you see is Google's own, and it records your decision in the standard industry format that every advertiser in the chain has to honour.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page, which reopens the same message. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it and carries no penalty: the generator works exactly the same either way. Declining does mean Google may show fewer ads, or none, in these regions.
Legal bases for processing (UK/EU)
- Providing the generator — performance of the service you have requested, and our legitimate interest in operating a website you asked to use.
- Rate limiting and abuse prevention — our legitimate interest in keeping the service available and free.
- Advertising cookies — your consent, where consent is required.
- Replying to your message — our legitimate interest in answering correspondence you have sent us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict processing, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
In practice, because we operate no accounts and store no record of what you type, we usually hold nothing about you beyond any email correspondence. To ask about or delete that correspondence, or to exercise any of these rights, write to hello@acrosticpoemgenerator.com and we will respond within one month.
California residents
We do not sell or share personal information in the sense meant by the California Consumer Privacy Act, and we do not receive money for personal information. However, the use of advertising cookies by third parties may be treated as “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under that law. You can limit it using Google My Ad Center, by enabling a Global Privacy Control signal in your browser, or by blocking third-party cookies. Californian residents may also request disclosure or deletion of personal information by emailing us at the address above.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The site is frequently used by teachers and parents on behalf of children, which is why the generator requires no account and stores nothing. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.
How long data is kept
- Generator input: not retained by us.
- Rate-limit counters: hashed, and expire automatically.
- Server logs: retained by our host for a short operational period.
- Contact correspondence: kept while relevant, then deleted on request.
- Third-party advertising data: governed by those companies' own policies, linked above.
International transfers
Our hosting, advertising and AI providers operate globally, so data may be processed outside your country, including in the United States. Those providers rely on their own safeguards for such transfers, described in their privacy policies.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top will change and the new version will be posted here. Continued use of the site after that constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
